balochistan(The COW News Digital)Pakistan’s security forces have announced the killing of nine suspected militants during the latest phase of Operation Shaaban, an ongoing counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan targeting armed groups operating in remote and mountainous areas.

According to security officials, the joint operation is being carried out by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and police forces. Authorities said the latest action focused on suspected militant hideouts in difficult terrain, where both aerial and ground operations were conducted.

Security sources stated that the nine individuals killed were affiliated with an outlawed militant group. Officials added that intelligence-led operations continue across various parts of the province as part of efforts to dismantle militant networks and improve the security situation.

Authorities further claimed that the total number of suspected militants killed during Operation Shaaban has reached 52. They also said that since July 5, a combined 88 suspected militants have been killed in Operation Shaaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan.

The figures provided by security officials could not be independently verified at the time of publication.

Officials said the operation will continue until militant infrastructure in the province is eliminated. Security forces have intensified counterterrorism activities in recent weeks, particularly in remote districts where armed groups are believed to have established hideouts.

Following the latest operation, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and police for what he described as a successful mission. In a statement, he praised the security personnel for their efforts against militant groups and reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the country.

Naqvi said the government would continue supporting security agencies in their campaign against terrorism, adding that militant groups would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s security.

Balochistan has witnessed a series of security operations in recent years as authorities seek to curb militant violence through intelligence-based and coordinated military actions. The province has remained a key focus of Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy due to repeated attacks targeting security forces, infrastructure, and civilians.

Operation Shaaban is part of the broader security effort aimed at disrupting militant activities and restoring stability in the region. Officials maintain that operations will continue based on intelligence assessments while efforts remain focused on preventing future attacks and strengthening law and order throughout the province.
