National ( The cow news digital ) Aleema Khan, sister of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, stated that public support in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is overwhelming and people across multiple districts are awaiting instructions to launch a movement for her brother’s release.

Speaking to media representatives at the Gorakhpur check post near Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan clarified that the call for a nation-wide protest on August 5 was formally issued by the party leadership rather than her individually. She shared details of her recent visits to several KP districts—including Hazara, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Buner—noting that local workers and supporters are organized and prepared for the upcoming political movement.

Emphasizing the role of public mobilization, Aleema Khan stated that the movement must be driven and organized directly by the party’s grassroots workers. She rejected claims that public backing for the former prime minister has waned, asserting that widespread support across KP is visible on social media platforms despite a perceived lack of coverage by mainstream news outlets.

Addressing broader political and media issues, she criticized the national media for remaining silent on press freedoms and regional issues, including recent developments and public sentiment surrounding the elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The media interaction followed another day of administrative restrictions at Adiala Jail, where party leaders and family members—including Aleema Khan, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Salman Akram Raja—were denied scheduled meetings with Imran Khan. Bushra Bibi’s sister-in-law, Mehr-un-Nisa, was granted entry. In response to the denial, Imran Khan’s sisters staged a brief sit-in near the Gorakhpur factory checkpoint alongside supporters while heavy police contingents monitored the area.
