National ( The cow news digital ) Senior political adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, has dismissed allegations linking the case of alleged kidnapping and assault of foreign women to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, calling the claims misleading and politically motivated.
Speaking during a television interview on a local news program, Rana Sanaullah said the matter was being unnecessarily exaggerated and turned into a political controversy without solid grounds. He stated that efforts were being made by certain circles to connect unrelated individuals with the incident in order to create confusion and public outrage.
He maintained that every individual is responsible for their own actions and should be held accountable based on evidence rather than speculation. According to him, the case is being blown out of proportion despite the availability of clear investigative material.
Rana Sanaullah further said that statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code had already been recorded from the affected individuals, which he claimed form strong legal evidence for prosecution. He added that investigating authorities already possess sufficient material to proceed with the case and that further requirements, if needed, could include summoning the foreign women involved for additional clarification.
He also criticized political opponents for what he described as an attempt to politicize a sensitive criminal case. Referring to calls for resignation from other political figures, he termed such demands baseless and lacking seriousness.
Meanwhile, police officials in Lahore have provided details of the investigation, stating that during an operation to trace the foreign women, a vehicle linked to the suspect met with an accident. Authorities said the women reportedly exited the vehicle safely and entered a nearby store, where they were later recovered by police. One suspect managed to flee the scene, while several others have been arrested in connection with the case.
