National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has suspended the parliamentary membership of Member of National Assembly Iqbal Afridi after the party’s leadership raised strong concerns over his alleged misconduct and behavior during internal party proceedings. The decision was taken during a parliamentary party meeting chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, where lawmakers reviewed recent political developments and matters related to party discipline.
According to an official statement issued after the meeting, the parliamentary party discussed issues related to conduct within the National Assembly, particularly following incidents linked to a recent delegation that visited Adiala Jail to meet PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. The meeting reviewed concerns regarding internal coordination and adherence to party rules during parliamentary engagements.
Party members reportedly expressed serious dissatisfaction over the behavior of MNA Iqbal Afridi, particularly in relation to an incident involving Sahibzada Sibghatullah. Lawmakers described the conduct as inappropriate and contrary to parliamentary norms. The leadership emphasized that such actions were unacceptable and did not align with the party’s expectations of discipline and mutual respect among its members.
The parliamentary party also revisited previous complaints and concerns regarding Afridi’s conduct, which had been raised on earlier occasions. After detailed discussion, members unanimously adopted a resolution to suspend his parliamentary party membership. The decision reflects the party’s stance on maintaining internal accountability and enforcing disciplinary standards across its ranks.
In addition to suspension, the meeting participants recommended that further action be taken to formally expel Iqbal Afridi from the party. The recommendation will be forwarded to the relevant party forums for final consideration. PTI leadership reiterated that organizational unity, discipline, and respect for parliamentary traditions remain central to the party’s functioning.
The statement further highlighted that no form of behavior undermining party dignity, cohesion, or democratic values would be tolerated. Leaders emphasized that adherence to internal rules is essential for maintaining political stability and credibility within parliamentary institutions.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, while chairing the session, underscored the importance of discipline and collective responsibility, stating that elected representatives must uphold the party’s code of conduct both inside and outside parliament.
The development comes at a time when PTI is actively managing internal restructuring and strengthening parliamentary coordination amid ongoing political challenges in the country.
