China(The COW News Digital)Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, during which both leaders agreed to work closely to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across multiple sectors. The call reflects continued efforts by Beijing and Brasília to deepen strategic ties amid shifting global economic and political dynamics.
According to international media reports, President Xi recalled that in 2024 he and President Lula jointly announced plans to elevate China–Brazil relations toward building a “community with a shared future.” He said the goal of this partnership is to promote a more just international order while supporting sustainable and inclusive global development.
President Xi noted that the current year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, a key phase in the country’s long-term development strategy. He emphasized that China will pursue high-quality growth through greater openness and reforms, creating fresh opportunities for cooperation with Brazil. Xi added that China is committed to expanding market access and encouraging deeper collaboration in trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, and technology.

The Chinese leader said Beijing is ready to comprehensively advance mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and promote the broad development of China–Brazil relations. He stressed that both countries share common interests as major developing economies and influential members of the Global South, making cooperation essential for addressing global challenges and fostering shared prosperity.
President Lula welcomed Xi’s remarks and reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to strengthening ties with China. He said Brazil is willing to work with Beijing not only to deepen bilateral relations but also to promote closer engagement between China and Latin America as a whole. Lula highlighted the importance of cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, industrial growth, and social inclusion.
Brazil and China have significantly expanded their partnership in recent years, with China remaining Brazil’s largest trading partner. Cooperation between the two countries spans agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, and infrastructure, while political coordination has increased in multilateral forums.
Analysts view the call as a signal that both sides intend to maintain momentum in their relationship despite global uncertainties. As major emerging economies, China and Brazil are increasingly aligning their policies to enhance South–South cooperation and amplify the voice of developing nations in global governance.
