World ( The cow news digital ) U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that there are indications suggesting Iran’s newly designated supreme leader may have been injured, though he confirmed that the individual remains alive. Speaking during a press briefing in Washington, he linked the situation to rising tensions between the United States and Iran and warned that any miscalculation by Tehran could lead to severe consequences.
Hegseth emphasized that Iran must make “wise decisions” regarding its future actions, particularly in relation to ongoing disputes over security, military positioning, and nuclear ambitions. He reiterated Washington’s long-standing position that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
According to the U.S. defense official, American forces remain fully prepared for potential military operations if diplomatic agreements fail. He warned that if Iran does not reach a new understanding with the United States and its allies, the U.S. military is capable and ready to respond with force if required.
The U.S. War Secretary also commented on Iran’s regional military capabilities, claiming that Tehran’s ability to project power in key maritime zones has been significantly reduced. He argued that Iran’s previous naval influence in strategic waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, has diminished. He further stated that American naval forces currently maintain effective control over commercial traffic in the region.
He accused Iran of issuing threats against international shipping, calling such actions “acts of piracy” rather than legitimate control. He also claimed that Iranian energy infrastructure has not been fully destroyed but is under increasing pressure due to ongoing restrictions and enforcement actions that have impacted export flows.
Hegseth added that U.S. intelligence continues to monitor Iranian military movements closely, including the relocation of missile-related assets and attempts to reactivate previously damaged launch systems. He said the United States is reinforcing its preparedness and maintaining heightened readiness in the region.
