Tehran: (The Cow News Digital) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held a series of telephone discussions with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Azerbaijan, during which he outlined Iran’s new peace initiative aimed at reducing regional tensions.
According to Iranian state-linked statements, Araghchi briefed his counterparts on Tehran’s proposal for a sustainable ceasefire framework and efforts to restore stability in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route. He emphasized that Iran remains committed to reducing tensions in the region but stressed that meaningful de-escalation would require flexibility from U.S. demands.
Araghchi stated that Iran is prepared for diplomatic engagement with the United States, signaling openness to renewed negotiations under revised conditions. However, he insisted that Washington must abandon what he described as “threatening rhetoric” and “expansionist policies” in the Middle East.
In his remarks, the Iranian foreign minister also criticized Israeli leadership, alleging that policies pursued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have resulted in significant economic and strategic losses for the United States. He claimed that U.S. involvement in regional conflicts has already cost the American economy billions of dollars.
Araghchi further accused the Pentagon of providing misleading assessments regarding the financial cost of recent conflicts, asserting that actual expenses are significantly higher than publicly stated figures. He argued that the ongoing instability in the region ultimately undermines U.S. interests and contributes to rising geopolitical risks.
The Iranian minister reiterated that Tehran’s approach is focused on diplomacy, regional cooperation, and preventing further escalation. He described Iran’s proposed initiative as a step toward establishing long-term stability in the Persian Gulf region and ensuring safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Officials in Tehran maintain that regional security can only be achieved through dialogue among neighboring countries without external military intervention. Araghchi’s outreach to multiple regional states reflects Iran’s broader strategy of strengthening diplomatic ties and building consensus on de-escalation.
