According to Israeli media reports, the legal action will target a detailed investigative article that included testimony from 14 Palestinian men and women. The article described allegations of sexual violence, humiliation, forced stripping, threats, and physical abuse said to have occurred during detention and interrogations in Israeli facilities.
The report, authored by a prominent American journalist, relied on firsthand accounts from detainees as well as supporting material from witnesses, family members, lawyers, and human rights organizations. It also referenced United Nations documentation and international monitoring findings concerning the treatment of Palestinian prisoners.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister had directed legal proceedings against the newspaper.
