World ( The cow news digital ) Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has issued a strong statement advising young women to focus on their careers and financial independence before considering marriage, amid growing reports of dowry-related deaths in India.
In an Instagram story, the actress expressed concern over frequent news reports involving harassment and deaths of married women linked to dowry demands. She said that many educated young women find themselves trapped in toxic domestic environments and often plead for help from their parents before situations turn tragic.
Her comments come in the backdrop of several disturbing incidents reported across India involving alleged dowry harassment. In one such case, a 33-year-old actress from Noida, Twisha Sharma, was found dead in Bhopal earlier this month at her husband’s residence. Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by her parents, accusing her husband and mother-in-law of harassment and abetment to suicide linked to dowry demands.
Referring to such cases, Kangana Ranaut advised women not to rely on social expectations surrounding marriage, fashion, or social media influence. She emphasized that building a strong career and becoming financially independent should be a priority before entering into marital commitments.
She further stated that a woman’s identity, achievements, and self-reliance are more important than whom she marries. According to her, women should focus on shaping their own lives rather than depending on others for protection or security.
The actress urged young women to become their own “heroes,” highlighting that external help may not always come in times of crisis. She encouraged them to take control of their futures, make independent decisions, and prioritize personal growth over societal pressure.
