PM Shehbaz, Chinese Envoy Agree to Speed Up CPEC 2

Pakistan ( the cow news digital ) ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, where both sides agreed to accelerate work on the next phase of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2).

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and the Foreign Secretary. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors including agriculture, industry, and infrastructure development under the expanded CPEC framework.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Chinese leadership on the successful conclusion of the “Two Sessions” and expressed gratitude to President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for their greetings on Pakistan Day.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing CPEC Phase 2, emphasizing enhanced cooperation in agriculture, industrial growth, and connectivity projects. He described the initiative as a cornerstone of long-term economic partnership between the two countries.

The Chinese Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s economic resilience and ongoing reform efforts, reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to expanding trade and investment ties. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the pace of ongoing bilateral engagements and agreed to strengthen coordination ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The Prime Minister also briefed the Chinese envoy on the regional situation, highlighting Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability. He stressed the importance of continued strategic coordination on matters of mutual interest to ensure long-term peace and development in the region.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to the enduring Pakistan–China strategic partnership, describing it as a vital pillar of regional connectivity and economic progress.
