Washington(The COW News Digital)US President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan’s leadership, describing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir as “great individuals,” while crediting Pakistan for its role in facilitating diplomatic efforts linked to an agreement involving Iran.

In an interview with a US-based media outlet, President Trump stated that Pakistan played a constructive and meaningful role in supporting discussions related to peace efforts with Iran. He highlighted that Pakistani officials were well aware of regional dynamics and maintained useful channels of understanding with Iranian counterparts.

Trump specifically commended Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him a “great man,” and said there is strong coordination between Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership. He further remarked that Field Marshal Munir holds deep respect for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, suggesting that both leaders work in close alignment on national and international matters.

According to Trump, Pakistan’s familiarity with Iran and its regional perspective allowed it to contribute effectively during diplomatic engagements. He suggested that Islamabad’s involvement helped facilitate communication and improve understanding between relevant parties during sensitive negotiations.

The US President also revisited past nuclear diplomacy with Iran, referring to the 2015 agreement as “disastrous,” and stated that current efforts require a different and more effective approach. He added that he has not yet spoken directly with Iran’s current leadership but acknowledged their resilience and political strength.

Trump also commented on China’s position in regional tensions, saying he had urged Beijing to stay out of the conflict. He expressed appreciation that China reportedly avoided direct involvement and agreed to remain outside the dispute. He further noted China’s reliance on energy routes through the Strait of Hormuz but insisted that non-interference was important for regional stability.

In addition, Trump mentioned upcoming international travel plans, stating he is expected to visit Turkey later this year and may travel to China in 2026. He also referred to planned diplomatic engagements involving Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The statements come amid broader discussions on regional security and energy stability, with officials highlighting recent diplomatic understandings that have contributed to easing tensions and stabilizing oil markets. According to reports, agreements linked to mediation efforts have helped reopen key maritime routes and influence global energy prices.
