Washington(The COW News Digital)US President Donald Trump has urged Israeli leadership to adopt a more measured and thoughtful approach, emphasizing restraint over military escalation as tensions with Hezbollah intensified in the region. According to Trump, his engagement with Israeli officials contributed to encouraging acceptance of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

In a telephone interview with NBC News, Trump said he directly communicated with Israeli leaders and advised them to consider diplomatic solutions rather than prolonged military confrontation. He stressed that continuous reliance on force is not always the most effective path and that strategic patience is often necessary to achieve long-term stability.

Trump described his message to Israeli officials as a call for balance, stating that leaders must sometimes step back and make decisions with clarity rather than emotion. He suggested that calm judgment and diplomatic thinking were essential in avoiding further escalation in an already volatile situation.

While Trump highlighted his close working relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he did not confirm whether his discussion was directly with Netanyahu or another senior official within the Israeli government. He added that Israel generally listens to his advice, although he sometimes needs to ensure situations remain under control.

The US President further claimed that his involvement helped prevent a deeper crisis in the region, asserting that without his intervention the situation could have deteriorated significantly. He also indicated that he would continue discouraging further military strikes by Israel in Lebanon.

His remarks came shortly after reports confirmed a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, brokered with the mediation of the United States, Qatar, and Iran. The ceasefire reportedly came into effect on Friday afternoon local time, marking a temporary halt in cross-border hostilities.

Despite the announcement, officials noted that sporadic clashes were still reported in certain areas following the implementation of the agreement. This has raised concerns over the durability of the truce and whether both sides will fully comply with its terms.

Diplomatic observers say the agreement is intended to reduce immediate tensions and prevent further regional escalation, though the situation remains fragile. Analysts caution that without sustained diplomatic engagement, the ceasefire could face significant challenges in holding over time.
