Hollywood star Will Smith is facing a new legal controversy, as a fellow male performer has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him. The case, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliatory behavior during Smith’s 2025 music tour.
The plaintiff, violinist Brian King Joseph, claims that he was recruited for a San Diego show in November 2024 and later offered a spot on Smith’s 2025 tour and his upcoming album Based on a True Story. According to the lawsuit, Smith allegedly adopted a “predatory approach” and gradually groomed Joseph for sexual exploitation.

Joseph further alleges that Smith told him, “Our relationship is special; I don’t share this with anyone else,” which contributed to the emotional pressure he experienced. The lawsuit emphasizes an incident in March 2025 during a Las Vegas performance, which is considered central to the case.
Joseph claims that his hotel room key bag went missing, supposedly handled by Smith’s management team, and he later discovered evidence suggesting someone had entered his room. A handwritten note was reportedly found that read, “Brian, I’ll be back… just us,” accompanied by a heart symbol. Joseph says the letter caused significant fear and anxiety.
Additional items found in the room included wipes, a beer bottle, a red bag, HIV medications in another person’s name, and hospital discharge papers. Joseph says these circumstances made him fear that someone might return to forcibly engage in sexual acts.
Despite reporting the incident to hotel security, Smith’s representatives, and the local non-emergency police line, Joseph claims that a member of Smith’s management later accused him of fabricating the events and terminated his employment. The plaintiff alleges that the experience caused him to suffer from PTSD and other mental health issues.
This lawsuit adds to Smith’s recent legal and public scrutiny, intensifying attention on the actor amid ongoing debates about accountability and conduct within the entertainment industry. Lawyers for both sides have yet to issue formal statements, and the case is expected to unfold over several months in court.
The allegations highlight growing concerns about workplace harassment in high-profile tours and productions, reinforcing the importance of industry-wide protocols to protect performers and staff.
