PESHAWAR(The COW News Digital) A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court seeking the recovery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial minister Fazal Shakoor, who has reportedly gone missing under circumstances described by his family as an alleged abduction.
The petition was filed by the minister’s brother, who approached the high court seeking immediate steps for his recovery as well as a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Peshawar and other relevant officials have been named as respondents in the petition.
According to the petition, Fazal Shakoor allegedly went missing from the Peshawar Motorway. The applicant has urged the court to direct the relevant authorities to take immediate measures to locate and recover the provincial minister.
The petition further states that if the missing minister is being held by any institution or authority in unlawful custody, he should be recovered and brought before the relevant legal forum without delay.
The applicant has also requested the Peshawar High Court to order the provincial police chief and the CCPO Peshawar to constitute a high-level investigation committee. The proposed committee would be tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and determining the facts of the case.
The petition seeks a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the alleged abduction, alongside efforts to locate the minister and establish what happened after he reportedly went missing.
The development has drawn attention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the authorities face calls to clarify the circumstances surrounding the provincial minister’s disappearance.
