National ( The cow news digital ) Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah, engaged in a heated exchange during a live broadcast after taking offense at questions regarding the exchange of serious corruption allegations between coalition partners PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
During an interview on Geo News, program anchor Shahzad Iqbal questioned the senior politician on whether recent corruption claims made against the PPP were based on genuine substance or merely political rhetoric. Responding sharply, Sanaullah dismissed the anchor’s inquiry, stating that the media had no right to question him on the matter as it remained an internal issue between the PML-N and the PPP.
In his remarks, Sanaullah criticized mainstream media coverage, alleging that journalists are conditioned to portray political parties in a negative light rather than covering affairs constructively.
The tense exchange escalated when anchor Shahzad Iqbal highlighted the severity of the public allegations, questioning whether the media should remain silent when a responsible minister alleges that three trillion Pakistani rupees were laundered out of the country to Dubai through corrupt practices.
In response to the specific financial claim, Sanaullah maintained that the matter would be properly addressed and answered once a formal inquiry into the issue is officially conducted.
The exchange comes amid heightened political friction between the ruling alliance partners, raising broader questions regarding official transparency, public accountability, and government-media relations in Pakistan.
