Lahore(The COW News Digital)Residents of Lahore and other parts of Punjab can expect further relief from the ongoing heat as the monsoon weather system continues to bring rainfall across the province, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds has been reported in different areas of Lahore since last night. The weather department has forecast additional rainfall in the provincial capital today, with showers expected in several parts of the city.
The PMD said that rainfall is also likely to continue across most districts of Punjab on the following day. The showers are expected to reduce the intensity of the heat, although increased humidity may continue to make weather conditions uncomfortable in some areas.
According to the latest forecast, Lahore’s temperature is expected to remain between 26 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The current monsoon spell is likely to continue across Lahore and several other districts of Punjab until July 13.
The ongoing rains have provided relief to citizens facing intense summer temperatures, bringing down heat levels in many areas. However, authorities have warned that heavy rainfall in some locations could create challenges related to urban flooding and drainage.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to district administrations, directing officials to remain prepared and take precautionary measures to minimize possible damages caused by the weather system.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore, operational teams have been deployed across the city to ensure timely drainage of rainwater. Field staff are working to clear accumulated water from major roads and low-lying areas.
Officials said that drainage operations will continue throughout the rainfall period, while citizens have been advised to remain cautious during heavy showers and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities.
The meteorological department has stated that the current monsoon pattern is expected to continue according to normal seasonal trends, with more rainfall activity possible in different parts of Punjab during the coming days.
