World ( The cow news digital ) The director of the Bollywood film “Haq” has revealed that actress Yami Gautam spent nearly four months studying the Quran as part of her preparation for her role in the film.

Director Supan Verma, in an interview with the BBC, said that the film required deep understanding of Islamic references, and the lead actress made significant efforts to authentically portray her character, Shazia Bano.

According to him, Yami Gautam not only researched the context of the story but also worked on understanding religious texts and cultural references that were essential to the narrative. The director added that the film includes multiple references from the Quran, and this influenced his decision to end the movie with the word “Iqra”.

He explained that the aim of the film was to address misconceptions surrounding Islamic law and social practices, particularly issues that are often misunderstood in public discourse. The director said that in today’s information age, misinformation spreads quickly, and he wanted the film to present what he described as a more informed perspective.

Supan Verma also mentioned that the project involved extensive research over a long period, including consultations on legal and cultural aspects related to the storyline. He emphasized that the film was inspired by real-life events and adapted from a book that highlights the struggle of a woman seeking justice.

Yami Gautam stars alongside actor Emraan Hashmi in the film, which tells the story of Shazia Bano, a woman who approaches the court after facing personal and marital injustice.

The director further stated that the film attempts to highlight ongoing gender inequality and social challenges faced by women, suggesting that such issues remain relevant even decades after the original case that inspired the story.
