World ( The cow news digital ) Iranian attacks on US military facilities in Jordan have reportedly killed two American service members and wounded dozens of others, according to US officials cited by international media reports. The attacks, which took place over the past five days, also caused significant damage to several military assets, including helicopters stationed at a US base.
Officials said Iranian forces carried out four major strikes targeting American positions in Jordan. The attacks have raised concerns among US defense officials over Iran’s growing missile capabilities and its ability to challenge advanced air defense systems deployed by American forces.
The first attack reportedly targeted a residential facility at King Faisal Air Base, injuring at least five US personnel. The strike marked the beginning of a series of attacks against American military locations in the country.
A second attack hit a base in eastern Jordan where US Black Hawk helicopters were stationed. Officials said several helicopters suffered serious damage as a result of the missile strike.
Later, Iranian missiles targeted Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, also known as Azraq Air Base, where around 20 American troops were injured while taking shelter in protective bunkers. No deaths were reported in that incident.
A subsequent attack on the same facility on Friday resulted in the deaths of two US soldiers, while four others were wounded, according to officials. Some personnel suffered minor injuries and were treated before returning to duty.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that two American military personnel were killed during efforts to defend US and allied forces against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan on July 17. CENTCOM also said one US service member remains missing.
The latest developments come after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for targeting the US military presence at Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. Iranian officials said the base was struck with missiles and drones, claiming that multiple aircraft and military facilities were damaged.
The situation has increased tensions between Washington and Tehran, with regional security concerns growing over possible further escalation. US officials have not provided a complete assessment of the damage, while investigations into the attacks and the effectiveness of defensive measures remain ongoing.
Jordan, a key US security partner in the Middle East, has not released a full statement regarding the reported strikes. The country hosts American forces as part of broader regional security cooperation.
