World ( The cow news digital ) The Prophet’s Mosque in Madina has activated a modern and highly advanced cooling system designed to provide continuous comfort for worshippers and visitors throughout the year, particularly during periods of extreme heat.
According to Arab media reports, the newly operational system is running 24 hours a day at full capacity to ensure a stable and comfortable indoor environment inside the المسجد النبوي ﷺ. The system has been introduced as part of ongoing efforts to enhance facilities for millions of pilgrims who visit the holy site annually.
Authorities from the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques stated that the cooling infrastructure has a total capacity exceeding 19,300 refrigeration tons. This makes it one of the largest and most advanced cooling systems of its kind in the world, specifically engineered to manage the unique environmental demands of the mosque.
The system covers an extensive area of approximately 98,700 square meters, utilizing a network of underground and structural installations that distribute cooled air throughout the mosque’s interior spaces. Special attention has been given to ensure that air circulation reaches key prayer areas, corridors, and column sections without disrupting the spiritual atmosphere of the sacred site.
Officials explained that the system operates through a continuous monitoring framework, allowing technical teams to supervise performance and conduct maintenance whenever required. This ensures uninterrupted cooling performance, especially during peak prayer times and high visitor density.
The implementation of this advanced cooling network is aimed at improving the overall experience of worshippers by maintaining a moderate indoor temperature, even during harsh weather conditions. Authorities emphasized that the project reflects ongoing commitments to providing high-quality services and infrastructure for visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
In addition to temperature control, the system is also designed to maintain air quality and humidity levels, contributing to a more comfortable and spiritually focused environment for prayer and reflection.
The development is part of broader modernization initiatives within the holy sites, where technology is increasingly being integrated to enhance crowd management, safety, and comfort without altering the traditional architectural and spiritual essence of the locations.
Officials reiterated that all systems are continuously supervised to ensure reliability and efficiency, allowing worshippers to perform their religious duties in a calm and peaceful environment.
