National ( The cow news digital ) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to its Member of the National Assembly, Iqbal Afridi, over alleged violations of party discipline and misconduct, seeking a written explanation within seven days.
The notice, signed by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, states that Afridi has repeatedly engaged in actions considered contrary to party policies and internal code of conduct. According to the party leadership, his recent behavior has raised serious concerns regarding discipline within parliamentary ranks.
The document alleges that Afridi used inappropriate and offensive language against fellow party members and maintained an unacceptable attitude during interactions with other parliamentarians. It further claims that he defied party decisions during proceedings of the National Assembly, thereby violating agreed parliamentary discipline.
A particularly serious allegation included in the notice relates to an incident outside Adiala Jail on June 23, where tensions reportedly escalated among PTI lawmakers. The notice claims that Afridi was involved in an altercation involving party members, and that one of his associates allegedly attacked several parliamentarians. It further states that Afridi was directly linked to the confrontation.
The party has directed Afridi to submit a written clarification within seven days, explaining his position on the allegations. PTI leadership has warned that failure to respond within the stipulated time, or submission of an unsatisfactory explanation, could lead to disciplinary action, including suspension of basic party membership or even expulsion in accordance with party rules.
Party sources indicate that all disciplinary matters are being handled strictly under PTI’s internal constitution and regulations. They emphasized that decisions regarding any member’s conduct will be made based on formal procedures and evidence, ensuring accountability within the party structure.
Meanwhile, no official response has yet been issued by Iqbal Afridi regarding the show-cause notice. It remains unclear whether he will contest the allegations or provide a formal explanation within the given timeframe.
Iqbal Afridi, who represents the Khyber district in the National Assembly, has been a party member involved in parliamentary proceedings, but recent developments suggest growing internal friction within the party ranks.
Political observers note that the issuance of such notices reflects ongoing tensions within PTI’s parliamentary group, as the party continues to navigate internal disputes and maintain organizational discipline amid a challenging political environment.
