National ( The cow news digital ) Senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir has claimed that former US President Donald Trump is interested in visiting Pakistan to advance negotiations with Iran, but only under a specific condition.
Speaking during a television program, Mir revealed that backchannel discussions between the United States and Iran had already been underway, with Pakistan being considered as a potential venue for a second round of talks. He noted that the development was known to select circles as early as April 1, but media outlets initially refrained from reporting it due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
According to Mir, both Washington and Tehran had reportedly reached consensus on several key points during earlier negotiations, though a major sticking point remains. Iran has insisted that it will not move forward with any agreement unless there is progress toward a ceasefire in Lebanon, highlighting the broader regional implications of the talks.
Mir further disclosed that Trump’s potential visit to Pakistan is conditional upon the presence of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Without his participation, Trump is unlikely to travel to Islamabad for negotiations. This condition, he said, was conveyed through diplomatic channels, including Chinese intermediaries.
The journalist also suggested that Trump is simultaneously seeking broader diplomatic wins, including a possible breakthrough with North Korea ahead of a planned visit to China in May.
