Russia, meanwhile, has accused Ukraine of launching a large-scale drone assault on President Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Ukrainian forces attempted to strike the residence using long-range drones between December 28 and 29. According to Russian officials, a total of 91 drones were allegedly launched during the incident.
Lavrov stated that all drones were intercepted and destroyed by Russian air defense systems before reaching their targets. He described the alleged operation as an act of “state terrorism” and warned that Ukraine would face consequences for what he called irresponsible and dangerous actions.
Russian authorities have not provided independent evidence to support the claims, while Ukraine has categorically denied any involvement. Analysts note that both sides have frequently accused each other of targeting high-profile locations as the conflict continues with no immediate end in sight.
