Washington(The COW News Digital)US President Donald Trump has reiterated his long-standing position that the United States should seek ownership or control of Greenland, arguing that such a move is essential to prevent Russia or China from expanding their influence in the strategically important Arctic region.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, President Trump said Washington would not allow Greenland to fall under the control of rival powers. He stressed that the issue is currently under review and that financial discussions regarding Greenland would take place at a later stage. “If we don’t take Greenland, then Russia or China will become your next neighbor, and that is something we cannot allow,” Trump said, describing Greenland as vital to US national security.
Trump added that the United States would prefer to reach a deal with Denmark, which currently governs Greenland, emphasizing that the matter should be resolved through negotiations. He maintained that US ownership or control of Greenland would ensure stability in the Arctic and block potential military or economic expansion by Moscow or Beijing.

During the same media interaction, the US president also spoke at length about Venezuela’s energy sector. Trump claimed that the United States and Venezuela together possess around 55 percent of the world’s oil reserves. He said Russia and China would be free to purchase oil from either country, adding that Washington is considering up to $100 billion in investment to help rebuild Venezuela’s oil industry.
According to Trump, Venezuela recently supplied the United States with millions of barrels of oil, and American oil companies will play a direct role in future agreements. He announced that the refining and sale of 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil would begin immediately, assuring that US companies investing in Venezuela would be provided with security guarantees.
The US president also repeated his claim of having helped prevent multiple international conflicts. He said he played a role in stopping eight wars, including a potential conflict between Pakistan and India. Trump once again referred to the downing of aircraft during tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, claiming his intervention helped save countless lives.
On Iran, President Trump issued a renewed warning, stating that the United States would intervene if civilians were killed amid unrest in the country. However, he clarified that intervention would not necessarily mean deploying US troops on Iranian soil. He said Washington is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to respond if necessary.
Trump had issued a similar warning a day earlier, cautioning Iran against using lethal force against protesters.
